What are you afraid of?

This is what I saw when I looked out the side window of my front door last night.  The light of my door lamp caught the little bugger just right so as to make me jump clear out of my slippers.  Scared the bajeezes out of me as I flipped that switch!!
.
Mainly I just thought it was a cool photo and wanted to share.
.
But also, it got me thinking about irrational fears. How could such a small thing, clearly unable to do any harm to me whatsoever, almost make me have to change my big-girl pants?
.
Life is funny like that.  Sometimes we are afraid of things which only have power over us because we allow it.  Nothing to fear but fear itself, right?
.
What little thing are you afraid of?

snakes, definately! since they can do harm, i guess my fear is justified?? but just like you, when i saw a rattlesnake face to face, i jumped first and then took a picture of it. :)

afraid Bess wont'cook supper and that i'll run out of beer?

seriously afraid of heights.
and when we would have a run to the dominican republic, from houston, we would run into a storm every time, the top mast light would go out, yep thats right, i would climb to the top of that 60ft high mast and change the light, while under way, in a storm. now if that is not facing your fear, good thing is was already wet out side, no one noticed.

I completely agree with you 100 percent. Little things DO scare us a lot, and it's pretty silly sounding when you look back on it.

Not much I'm afraid. But once a swarm of angry yellow-jackets got me running pretty fast.

I am afraid of cockroaches. Ehheewww...every time I saw cockroach in my room I shout so loud that even my neighbor heard it. I just hate cockroach. Sometimes they fly into my drawers and cabinets I am shouting and crying when i see them flying into my room.

That picture pretty much does it for me. Spiders give me the whillies. Ironically, I don't ever kill them ~ I take them outside if I catch them in my house.

FEAR sure is an illusion, isn't it? It's the #1 factor that keeps us from achieving, and it's usually made up in our imagination.. all the things that "may go wrong."

Thanks for visiting coachyourmind, Charlene and becoming #50!!!!! No one will ever be able to take that from you.

Cochroaches... that's got the fear factor and the "major willies" factor. EWWWWW is right!!

Bob - I'd be afraid of heights too (and you know you can get your own beer. hehe)

Dayne - You're welcome! :-)

I know what you mean about those spiders, they are everywhere at the moment - I did a blog a couple of weeks ago about them too.

Wow! That picture alone is scary! I am definitely afraid of spiders! Amongst other things but I'll save those so I don't show you how big a scaredy cat I am lol.

I like your blog a lot though. I'm over here stuck behind a desk myself when I feel no one should be.

Check out my blog over at TheExtraExtra.com - I'll be sure to keep checking back at yours!

Yuk. Snakes are my phobia! I failed a lab in science class because I would not touch a snake.

Thanks for stopping by my blog! Safe travels on all your upcoming trips.

I have this inexplicable fear of going hungry. My fridge and freezer hold enough food to last more than a month!

Spiders all the way. Terrified of them!

For whatever reason, snakes and reptiles don't bother me. Spiders like that though...lets just say I ripped my clothes off in the front yard once cause there was a spider on me. I traumatized the whole neighborhood in one swoop :)

Mad Cats - that is HYSTERICAL! LOL!

On my last business trip, I remembered that I'm even more afraid of down escalators than spiders. :-) Wierd, I know!

YEAWWW.. That kind of spider freaks me out. I grew up in BC and as a kid had to go to the wood shed for wood. And there were huge Wood spiders there . I hate them to this day...
